Depth to Water Table

Map depicting Depth to Water Table.

The depth-to-water table is the distance from the landsurface to the water table. The source for this data is a 1:250,000-scale map compiled by the USGS using computerized well log information and depth to water contours from other published sources such as county reports and county solid waste plans. Scarcity of data sources, variable topography and water fluctuations make this layer of varying reliability. Cartography by Bill Shockley, 1999, DNR GIS Services Section.

This map was distributed in the Ecological Landscapes handbook.
