In an effort to develop a lakeshore assessment tool for the Wisconsin DNR, several enhancements were added to the NLA physical habitat protocol. The surveys were conducted on expanded 45-meter plots based on the ten NLA habitat plots for each lake. The supplemental method provided more detail on woody debris for fish habitat, invasive species specific to Wisconsin, and better documented the presence and density of human development. It also provided more detail on the aquatic plant composition in the littoral zone. Please visit WDNR Supplemental Habitat Methodology for the USEPA National Lake Assessment, for a more thorough description of these enhancements.
