Overview

Last Spring (2007), we introduced a new database sytem for volunteers. For instructions, click on the link to our user's guide below, or take a look at the abbreviated steps below.

For a 1-page set of instructions, see Citizen Lake Monitoring - How to Report Data

For more detailed instructions, see our complete user's guide for volunteers

User IDs and Passwords

If you entered data online last year, you can use your existing WAMS account (user id and password). If you haven't gotten a user id and password, here are the instructions:
How to get a WAMS (wisconsin.gov) user id and password.

Just be sure to email Jennifer your user id once you've set it up.

How to Enter Data

  • Log in at: http://dnr.wi.gov/lakes/clmn-data
  • Click on the Submit Data tab
  • Click Add New to add new monitoring data
  • Select the project from the dropdown
  • Then, select the monitoring station and data collectors
  • Enter the date and time
  • Down below, enter your written observations in the comment box (i.e. weather, wildlife)
  • Click Next
  • Fill in your results. To enter a temperature profile, click the button on the bottom right.
  • When finished, click Save and Add Another Date, or if you're finished: Save and Return to List. If you click Save and Return to List (or if you click "View List" from the Submit Data tab), you will see a list of data you've recently entered or help collect.

How to Edit Existing Data

You can edit data you've entered during the current monitoring season. Here's how:

  • Log into SWIMS at http://dnr.wi.gov/lakes/clmn-data
  • Within SWIMS, click the Submit Data tab. Click View List.
  • Click the pencil icon for the date your want to edit.
  • You can edit comments, etc. on the first page if necessary, then click Next. You can now edit your results. If you hit Save and Return to List, your changes will save.
