Common Questions about the Remote Sensing ProjectWhat path is my lake in?Here is the link to find out. What is the Remote Sensing Study about?Between 1999-2001, the University of Wisconsin - Madison Remote Sensing Center developed a way to predict water clarity in lakes using observations from space and data from the ground at a lake. For more information Satellite Lake Observatory Initiative (Exit DNR).How do I participate?Through this website, you will be able to get the days the satellites will pass over. We participate in the study between July 1 and Sept. 15. Go out on any of these days you can (don't worry if you can't go out on all of them - even just one or two is great). Sample your lake as you normally would, preferably on clear, calm sunny days between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. When you are finished, report your data normally as would over the Secchi Line or on the Self-Help Data Entry Page; there is no need to let us know that you sampled for the satellite experiment. While it is preferred that you sample on the day the satellite passes overhead, there is a 3-day window around the date that sampling will still be effective.
