Brule River State Forest - Recreation - ATVsWithin the Brule River State Forest, all-terrain vehicles can ride on the Tri-County Corridor trail year-round and on the Brule-St. Croix Snowmobile Trail during the winter months when this trail is also open to snowmobiles. ATVs are prohibited on all other state-owned lands within the Brule River State Forest, including logging roads. Many town roads within the Brule and Highland townships are designated ATV routes. Check with local townships and villages for current ordinances. Brule-St. Croix Snowmobile Trail (Trail 27 and 27A)Open to ATVs during the winter months when it is also open to snowmobiles, the 26-mile Brule-St. Croix Trail connects the parking area on State Highway 27 to St. Croix Lake. Connecting trails also link to the Bayfield and Douglas County trail systems. Tri-County CorridorThe Tri-County Corridor connects the cities of Ashland and Superior via approximately 62 miles of improved railroad grade in Ashland, Bayfield, and Douglas counties. This trail parallels the north side of US Highway 2 as it passes through the forest, though not on state forest property. Trail Passes and RegulationsState law requires those who use Wisconsin ATV trails to display either proof of Wisconsin registration or an ATV trail pass.
