Threatened and Endangered Species in Forests of Wisconsin

This publication was produced in 2000 as a joint project of:

  • Wisconsin DNR - Division of Forestry and the Bureau of Endangered Resources
  • U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
  • The Nature Conservancy
  • International Paper
  • Stora Enso and
  • Plum Creek
For more information, contact Eunice.Padley@wisconsin.gov
and reference publication number FR-174

All of the content for the pdf files below is from the 2000 publication entitled "Threatened and Endangered Species in Forests of Wisconsin." Please note that the maps in this publication may not reflect the current distributions of species in the state. These maps were prepared in 1999 using data from the Natural Heritage Inventory database of documented element occurrences. This database is continually updated as new records are added through NHI survey efforts, as well as from other qualified observers.

More information regarding endangered resources can be found at the Endangered Resources Program site.

Please Note:
There are two versions of each part/chapter of the book - a screen version designed for viewing on a computer screen, and a print version designed with a higher resolution for printing.

*NOTE: Links beginning with "Herbarium" exit the DNR site.

Several of the links below go to the Wisconsin State Herbarium web site. Please note that there may be differences between the herbarium maps and the maps from this publication. The herbarium maps are made using locations where vouchered specimens have been collected. The maps prepared from NHI data include all of these records, as well as other locations where collection of plant material was not required (e.g. photo-vouchered location).
