Wisconsin Forest Legacy Program Application

We are pleased to be able to continue to offer this voluntary program to private forest landowners in the State as one more method of helping to protect and maintain our valuable forest resources.

By completing and submitting the Forest Legacy Program Application, you are carrying out the first step in the process towards obtaining a permanent conservation easement on your property. This program is not for everyone and we are attempting with this application to determine whether your property meets the minimum requirements for this program. Actual funding for any project depends upon a number of factors including: the endorsement of the project by the Forest Stewardship Committee and State Forester, the perceived public value of the property at both the State and federal levels, and the availability of funds from Congress for the Program.

Application Materials

The application questions should be seriously considered and answered with the assistance of a natural resource professional familiar with the property, if possible. Site visits are invaluable to the decision making process and you may be contacted should a site visit be requested by the Forest Stewardship Committee.

This year we are requesting that projects involving multiple landowners submit application materials for each landowner.

Please refer to the map of Forest Legacy Areas to determine if your property is within these boundaries. Only applications within these boundaries will be considered.

Please contact Nicole Potvin at 608-266-2388, or email Nicole.Potvin@Wisconsin.gov, if you have questions regarding this application, or the application process. All applications need to be sent in no later than April 1, 2008
