There are two types of Cooperating Foresters:
Consulting foresters serve or represent private landowners on a contract or fee basis, which the landowner pays.
Industrial foresters are employed by wood-using industries that provide advice and assistance to private landowners to promote forestry practices approved by the companies.

- Road location, design and construction
- Shade tree appraisals
- Specialty product marketing
- Surveying and boundary establishment
- Thinning and pruning
- Timber Tax counseling
- Timber sales: preparation & administration
- Timber sales: solicit bids & prepare contracts
- Timber stand improvement
- Tree planting and site preparation
- Urban forestry
- Watershed protection
- Wildlife management

** All Wisconsin Cooperating Foresters agree to provide services consistent with DNR forestry standards. Firms that do not participate in forest certification are not less qualified to provide services.
