To ensure the state's forest resources supply a range of ecological, economic and social benefits for years to come, the Division of Forestry has dedicated itself to the practice of sustainable management and offers several programs that help other Wisconsin forest owners achieve sustainability, as well.

- Forest Certification Helps landowners obtain third-party certification signifying their management practices meet strict standards for sustainability.
- Forest Legacy Program Assists landowners in maintaining forestlands threatened by residential development.
- Wisconsin Forest Management Guidelines Voluntary management guidelines for improving wildlife habitat, protecting water quality, and meeting many other objectives.
- Forest Product Marketing and Utilization Markets Wisconsin forest products to potential new industry partners and helps forest products businesses use the resource more efficiently.
- Smart Forestry for Smart Growth Helps local communities draft long-range plans that will sustain their forest resources, economies and quality of life.
- Property Master Planning (exit Forestry) With extensive public input, establishes long-range goals and objectives for managing the state forests and other DNR properties.
- State Nursery Program Offers nursery stock and expertise for reforestation projects on Wisconsin's state, county, industrial and private lands.
- Statewide Forest Plan Articulates a common vision for preserving the ecological, social and economic benefits of Wisconsin's forestlands and a framework for achieving that vision.
