Forestry GIS Applications

Forestry is developing a system of integrated components for accessing Forestry’s data (tabular and geographic) and for building distributable GIS-based applications. As these components are built they will be integrated in to Forestry’s system design. This section lists and makes available the current system components:

Forestry GIS Tools

The following are desktop GIS and mapping tools which provides data visualization, query, analysis, and integration capabilities along with the ability to create and edit geographic data. Forestry provides mapping solutions for ESRI ArcView versions 3.x as well as other simple mapping and data editing tools.

Non – ArcView Solutions

• LayerExplorer.zip (462 KB) - load data library layers into ArcExplorer

AV 3.x Tools

• DM2WTMext.zip (5 KB) - convert Degree Minutes coordinates to WTM ArcView 3.x extension and documentation
• forestry_ICS_tools_extension_only.zip (91 KB) - ICS tools ArcView 3.x extension, without documentation (download documentation below)
• forestry_compute_acres_count_structures_tool.zip (17 KB) - Fire Structure/Mapping
• Xtools (MSWord 23KB)
• poly_tools.zip (39 KB) - polygon shape editing tools extension, tools are similar to the tools used in Rave
