Shovelnose - Hook and Line Inland Fisheries
A shovelnose sturgeon rests on the river bottom Hook and Line Shovelnose Sturgeon HarvestThere are two areas in Wisconsin where shovelnose sturgeon may be harvested by hook and line: 1) a year-round season on the lower Wisconsin River from the Prairie du Sac Dam downstream to the confluence with the Mississippi River, and 2) a year-round season on the Mississippi River below Red Wing Dam. These are the only locations in the state where shovelnose sturgeon may be harvested by angling.
