Wisconsin is fortunate to possess one of the largest self-sustaining lake sturgeon populations in the world. Because of the biological characteristics of lake sturgeon and the ease in which a population can be significantly impacted in an exploited fishery, it is critical that management strategies and philosophies be continually reviewed, refined, and updated.
