Wisconsin Water Success Stories

Great things are happening in Wisconsin for clean, healthy water. Water Success Stories is our way of sharing with you some of the highlights.

Water Division Annual Report

The 2006 Water Division Annual Report [PDF 1 MB] highlights accomplishments of DNR staff and partners to achieve the state's four strategic Water Program objectives:

  • implementing and enforcing the federal Clean Water Act;
  • sustaining and protecting groundwater and drinking water;
  • enhancing and restoring outstanding, healthy fisheries;
  • protecting lakes and rivers that belong to all Wisconsin citizens by upholding the Public Trust Doctrine.

This beautifully designed report also highlights special efforts on the Great Lakes and Mississippi River.

Water Monitoring

Water Monitoring. The Water Division of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) gathers environmental information to assess aquatic environmental health, evaluate environmental problems and to determine success of management actions that are intended to protect our aquatic resources. The DNR's Water Resources Monitoring Strategy directs our monitoring efforts in a manner that efficiently addresses the wide variety of management information needs, while providing adequate depth of knowledge to support management decisions.
