Work Play Earth Day - Celebrate EARTH DAY by volunteering at your State Parks!

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Activities: Outdoor activity, Volunteer opportunity, Work day, Work Play Earth Day
Location: Kohler-Andrae SP

Volunteers are needed to clear brush from roadways and campsites, clear sand from trails and parking lots and pick up litter. Volunteers should wear work shoes/boots, long pants, gloves and bring shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows if they have them. Individual and group efforts are all welcome! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants are asked to meet at the indoor shelter in the north campground for group assignments. Noon refreshments will be provided. Park admission is free for those volunteering.

Pre-registration is not required for individuals; however, we would appreciate having large groups contact us prior to April 20. For more information or to register as a volunteer, please call (920) 451-4080 or email Edward.Muzikjr@wi.gov.

Kohler-Andrae SP information

Kohler-Andrae State Park in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, is the home of majestic sand dunes, miles of golden beach, shimmering blue Lake Michigan water, whispering pines, an abundance of wildlife, and recreational activities for everyone. Kohler-Andrae State Park is one of the last natural preserves along the Lake Michigan shore, and is open for everyone to explore and enjoy.

Effigy Mounds Workday

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Activities: Volunteer opportunity, Work day
Location: Devil's Lake SP

The effigy mounds at Devil's Lake need a little TLC. Volunteers will help trim vegetation, cut out woody species, and help to better mark the mounds' outlines. All tools will be provided, but you may want to bring a pair of work gloves and water along too. Stay for the whole time or come when you can to help. Meet at the North Shore Visitor Center.

Devil's Lake SP information

Founded in 1911, Devil's Lake is the third oldest state park in Wisconsin, the largest, and the most visited. Devil's Lake offers magnificent views from 500-foot quartzite bluffs overlooking a 360-acre lake. Enjoy lakeshore picnic areas, sandy swimming beaches, 29 miles of hiking trails, or ease into the backcountry solitude. Devil's Lake is a beautiful year-round park with an intriguing natural history along the 1,000-mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail.

Work Play Earth Day - Celebrate EARTH DAY by volunteering at your State Parks!

Location: MacKenzie Center

Celebrate earth day at the MacKenzie Center this year. Come volunteer with us to help remove invasive species, clear brush, pick up garbage and participate in other earth-friendly activities. Families, individuals, scout groups, 4-H groups, businesses and other organizations are all welcome to attend. Meet in the Badger Den parking lot.

MacKenzie Center information

The MacKenzie Center, just 25 miles north of Madison, is one of the most diverse education centers in Wisconsin. With interpretive trails, exhibits, museums and programming available for school and youth groups, MacKenzie is a wonderful place to visit and learn about the natural world. The State Game Farm is connected to the MacKenzie Center and is adjacent to the arboretum on the western half of the property.

Earth Week Clean Up

Time: 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Location: Kettle Moraine SF - Northern Unit

Help give the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive a spring cleaning. Join others for a morning of camaraderie and litter pick up. Youth and other groups are encouraged to participate. Bring your own gloves. Garbage bags will be provided. Go to the Forest Headquarters off County Road G to get your road assignment. After the cleanup, meet back at the Headquarters for snacks and refreshments. Sponsored by the Friends of the Kettle Moraine. To register groups, call (262) 626-2116. Location: Forest Headquarters (located off County Road G south of County Road SS near New Prospect). Kettle Moraine SF - Northern Unit information

The Kettle Moraine Northern Unit is comprised of about 30,000 acres stretching 30 miles across Sheboygan, Fond du Lac and Washington Counties. The forest is managed for multiple use, including recreation management, sustainable forest products, water quality and soil protection, terrestrial and aquatic wildlife, native biological diversity and aesthetics.

Volunteer and help work on the trails at Devil's Lake. We'll work on blocking off "non-official" trails on East Bluff Trail. All tools will be provided, but you may want to bring a pair of work gloves and water along too. Stay for the whole time or come when you can to help. Meet at the Nature Center.
