WI Volunteer Carnivore Tracking Program Training

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Activities: Outdoor activity, Wildlife conservation, Wildlife study
Location: Sandhill Wildlife Area

Learn to identify tracks of medium to large-size carnivores (and a few other common Wisconsin mammals) and how to conduct track surveys as part of the Wisconsin Volunteer Carnivore Tracking program. This class meets one of the training requirements for participation in the Wisconsin Volunteer Carnivore Tracking Program. Program participants are also required to take a wolf ecology class. Limit 30 participants. Contact WDNR wildlife biologist Jane Wiedenhoeft at to register. Register by November 22.


Sandhill Wildlife Area information

The 9,150-acre State Wildlife Area was named for a series of gently rolling sandy ridges crisscrossing the property. Sandhill Wildlife Area lies within the bed of ancient Glacial Lake Wisconsin - an expansive region of flat, marshy land interspersed with forests covering parts of seven counties in central Wisconsin.
