Natural Resources Board Mercury Seminar – July 18, 2007

The Natural Resources Board held a special meeting in Stevens Point on July 18, 2007, to hear from experts on mercury in the environment. Topics covered during this informational seminar included health effects, effects on fish and wildlife, sources and fate of mercury, control technology availability for coal-fired power plants, control technology costs and implications for electric reliability. The seminar provided background information useful for Natural Resources Board members who will consider adoption of revised mercury regulations for coal-fired power plants in the fall of 2007.
