Clean Diesel Grants

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources administers Clean Diesel Grant Programs to help reduce diesel emissions from both public and private vehicle fleets across the state.

  1. 2010 DERA Wisconsin Clean Diesel Grant Program

  2. CMAQ Eastern Wisconsin Retrofit Project

    Funding is available to cover 100% of the cost of exhaust retrofit devices and installation on school buses (public or private), municipal, and off-road equipment in the following counties: Door, Kenosha, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Washington, and Waukesha. Devices must be installed on equipment that will operate in these counties for at least 3-5 years (depending on model year). Purchase of devices takes place by the Department of Natural Resources through their awarded vendors after participating fleet enters into an agreement with the Department. Funds are available on a first-come-first-serve basis for qualifying fleets. Please contact Jessica Lawent, 414-263-8653.

    Below are forms required of recipients of the 2009 Wisconsin Clean Diesel Grant funded through the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act.

  2. 2009 ARRA Switch Locomotive Idle Reduction Grant Program

    The Air Program received an ARRA grant of approximately $570,000 through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency [Exit DNR] to install automatic engine shut-down/start-up systems on 40 switch locomotives in Wisconsin to reduce idling emissions. Locomotive fleets receiving funding from DNR through this grant program include Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Company and Canadian Pacific Railway.
