Storage Tank Air Emission Calculations
DNR changed databases in 2008 to consolidate its separate emission inventory, permitting, and compliance databases. Because of this consolidation, DNR no longer calculates storage tank emissions with its Oracle database. For the 2008 reporting year and beyond, DNR will depend on the people to reporting evaporative emissions from above ground storage tanks to run a USEPA program and then supply the results of that program to the Air Reporting System (ARS) Internet software. The following steps should be taken to report air emissions from above ground storage tanks should:
- Calculate air emissions using the USEPA TANKS 4.09 program.
[exit DNR]. TANKS 4.09D allows users to enter specific information about a storage
tank (dimensions, construction, paint condition, etc.), the liquid contents
(chemical components and liquid temperature), and the location of the
tank (nearest city, ambient temperature, etc.), and generate an air emissions
report. Report features include estimates of monthly, annual, or partial
year emissions for each chemical or mixture of chemicals stored in the
tank. The emissions estimating equations forming the basis of the TANKS
4.09D software program were developed by the American Petroleum Institute
(API).
- In the ARS software, enter the calculated pollutants in the ARS process area under the 'Reported' tab.
- Send the Client1.mdb file found in the TANKS4.0 folder on the computer's c: drive as a zipped file via email
to Ralph Patterson
or Cory Carter. [Note:
You will need to zip the file and then email the file. DNR's spam blocker
destroys files with a .dbf or .mdb extension.]
